Look for Less

I’ve been unemployed now for nearly five months (I know, time flies when you’re having FUNemployment) and with the economy still in the toilet, job prospects are nil. Is that really the case, or is it that I refuse to work until my dream job comes waltzing through the door saying, hey there no experience, hey there authority complex–pssst, yeah you, the one with her feet up watching Oprah with a fist-full of organic mango jerky at $10.99 per pound…want a job?

OK, maybe it’s a bit of both…

I have to say, I’ve been making the unemployment stipend really stretch because I’ve become (maybe I secretly always was) the look for less girl. I recently put together fashion mood boards featuring affordable looks (at my favorite discount shop, H&M) for a friend who is by nature the look for less girl. For her, spending thousands of dollars on fashion is wasteful when she can stockpile her retirement fund and live out her golden years comfortably. For me, the look for less is more of a necessity right now…and I don’t have a retirement fund. I’m banking on the off-chance that I will either win the mega millions or come into a large sum of money one way or another.

Here are a couple mood boards I created for her back in March using the nifty H&M Fashion studio and a few stylish celeb photos… These aren’t recent styles, I know–but it is a great way to create the look for less on your own. Thanks H&M…

If the dream job or lump sum doesn’t come around soon stay tuned for Fall inspiration…
