Sick Day

So I’ve been couch-ridden this weekend from some mysterious debilitating stomach-head-throat thing. The benefits of being sick are as follows: sudden and much welcomed weight loss, nurse-service from partner/spouse–although, my boyfriend has been working all weekend so I’m home alone…which leads me to my next illness perk–BAD TV! Well, since I don’t have cable–all of my TV is bad…so I guess that’s not a perk. And Channel 13 is educational most of the time so I can’t even qualify that channel as a sick-day indulgence. BUT I do get to raid my dusty DVD collection for movies that I like and that I don’t have to pre-approve with my housemate… The Way We Were, Annie Hall, and the current feature Moonstruck! There is something about watching Cher and Nick Cage try to act that makes my feel better about myself. hahaha I actually do love this movie.

And we probably shouldn’t knock it because Cher did win the Best Actress Academy Award for her performance–beating out some serious heavyweights in the category: Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction, Holly Hunter in Broadcast News, Sally Kirkland in Anna and Meryl Streep in Ironweed. Can you believe it? No? Just Watch.

Here are a few of my favorite Moonstruck moments:

and my all-time favorite quote…(I couldn’t find a clip)

Rose Castorini: Do you love him, Loretta?
Loretta Castorini: Aw, ma, I love him awful.
Rose Castorini: Oh, God, that’s too bad.
