Design Inspiration: Futuristic Lamp

I snapped this photo with my phone (hence the poor quality) at the home of a friend’s mother. She has a palatial house on Cedar Creek in Lacey Township NJ. (I think I got that right.) The water in Cedar Creek, as you may have guessed, is a reddish color. The house has multiple bedrooms and one of those extra-long weathered wood docks extending into the rich toned water. Similar to those featured in scary movies . Obviously, this place isn’t haunted–far from it. It is absolutely lovely.

In one of the bedrooms I discovered this lamp!! My boyfriend was working on a futuristic comic at the time and I thought this lamp would be the perfect reference for him so I took a few photos. I LOVE IT!

I tried to imagine it in other colors but I think it really only works in white.

Design Inspiration PAINT PROJECT

I stumbled across this image on The Pursuit Aesthetic and I am heading to the store today to purchase paint. I don’t know the origins of this picture so I can’t find out any information but I LOVE the dark doors/white walls contrast and I think it is just what I need to give my place a small and simple facelift.┬áIt’s not like painting the whole apartment–UGH don’t get me started on that. I end up with paint in places one should never have paint–places that rarely see the sun. And let’s not talk about trip work. My light switched are still coated with paint and one plate is missing all together. This causes a definite fire hazard. Side note, the plate has been missing for two years. It is in my life every day–all day. You think I would have installed a new one by now. Nope. I am currently without health insurance so I think an electric shock should be avoided. Note to self–pick up switch plate today.

My New Obsession…Lonny

I have been really loving the online lifestyle/home decor mag, Lonny. The have a great interactive website and the design inspiration is filling the Domino magazine void. The style is impeccable and I get great design ideas for my apartment. Of course, I have to resort to more affordable interpretations but at least I’m on the chic track. I am so glad they got a write up in the Times last week just in case you missed the one last year! *My one eye roll goes to the new (well, new to me) moniker for home magazines…shelter mag… It’s a little cringe-worthy.

Anyway, Lonny is great and the site better be bookmarked or you’re seriously missing out.
